Winterizing Tips
Winterizing Tips
Winter is approaching, and the cold weather can damage your pipes and cause water loss. Consider the following before it is too late:
· Insulate pipes exposed to the cold or located on outside walls to protect them from freezing.
· Wrap “problem area” pipes with electric heat tape to prevent freezing. Make sure the heat tape is in good repair to prevent shorts and fires and be sure the heat tape has been plugged in.
· Open the doors of your sink base cabinet in order to allow warm air to reach water pipes
· Don’t leave water dripping as it wastes the water, raise your water bill significantly and can damage the septic system
Please call either Randy or John at the Water District if you have concerns you would like to discuss.

Are you one of the many Americans that buy bottled water? You may want to explore the Self Service Water Station at the IHWD offices on Parmalee. For 25 cents per gallon you can have extra filtered water that removes the chlorine and improves the taste. Bring your own clean gallon jugs to fill.
